Swimming Lessons - Post Lockdown

Find out how our swimming lessons will run in the post lockdown period.

September 2020 Swimming Lessons

The September 2020 course will run from 29 August to 6 November.

The course is 10 weeks, 9 weeks for Monday lessons due to the Bank Holiday on 31 August.

Changes to the September Course

Available lessons:
Junior lessons - Ripples through to Stroke and Stamina
Adult Lunchtime lessons

All lessons will have reduced capacity and run for 30 minutes.


Due to the procedures and safety precautions in place the following lessons will not be part of the September course:

  • Baby Wave
  • Toddler Wave - pupils who are 4 years old and in Primary 1 in September may enrol in Junior lessons
  • Adult Evening lessons
  • Active Ageing
  • All Sunday lessons

Pupils for whom lessons are unavailable will have any credit owed applied on their next enrolment.

Current Pupil Enrolment

Current pupils are those enrolled on the February 2020 course.

Enrolment

Priority enrolment has now closed. Current pupils may use the New Pupil Enrolment form if they wish to enrol for the September course. 

Please be aware there are no places on Ripples, Ripples 1 and Ripples 2 lessons with limited spaces on all other courses.

All pupils, regardless of the day they are booking for, should submit this form at their earliest convenience as places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
If your requested lesson is not available the closest alternative will be given. You will receive an email confirming the lesson booked.

Please note: if you have more than one child to enrol, additional children's details should be put in the box provided on the form. Only one form per email address can be submitted.

 


Cost

Junior and Adult Lunchtime lessons are £6.10 per lesson.
The monthly direct debit amount will be £23.79 per month through to June 2021.
Cash payments will be £61 for 10 week courses and £54.90 for 9 week courses.

Payment

Paying by Direct Debit

  • The 2 weeks lost in March due to the lockdown will be deducted from the September payment. 
  • Junior payment for 1 September: 10 week course will be £12.19, 9 week course will be £6.09
  • Adult payment for 1 September: 10 week course will be £15.19
  • All monthly direct debit payments thereafter will be for £23.79 per month.

Paying by Cash

  • The credits from the 2 weeks lost in March due to the lockdown will be applied to the course payment. 
  • If payment was made for the April 2020 course, these credits will also be applied to the course payment.
  • Any outstanding amount must be paid by card over the telephone. Pupils will be contacted by a member of staff. Please note that calls are made using the Council 0300 013 3333 number.
     

Pupils who are not yet ready to come back or do not get a lesson place will have any credit owed applied to their next course enrolment.

New Pupil Enrolment

Enrolment

Please note: limited spaces are only available for Ripples 3 upwards.

Enrolment can be made up until 25 September by emailing the details below to leisure@ardsandnorthdown.gov.uk

Enrolment details: pupil name, date of birth, name of parent/guardian, address, contact number, lesson level, lesson day and time.

You will be contacted by a member of staff to confirm if a place is available and to complete the course enrolment. Please note that calls are made using the Council 0300 013 3333 number.

Cost

Direct Debit payments - those wishing to pay monthly by direct debit will pay the full amount of £23.79 as a cash payment. They must then complete the Direct Debit Mandate form for payments to be taken on the first working day of the month thereafter.

Cash members - those wishing to pay the full amount will be contacted by a member of staff for payment over the phone. Please note that calls are made using the Council 0300 013 3333 number.

All new pupils will be required to complete our application forms.

No refunds will be given under any circumstances.
Bookings are non-transferable.

Attending Swimming Lessons

  • Face masks should be worn by parent/carers at all times while in the complex, including the Aqua Zone. Children do not need to wear masks.
  • To keep the number of people in the complex and Aqua Zone to a minimum, where possible only one parent/guardian should accompany their child/children to lessons.
  • Buggies/prams - to limit cross contamination and congestion in the Aqua Zone, where possible buggies/prams should be left in the foyer outside the Aqua Zone.
  • Swimmers must arrive swim ready. 
  • Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your session time and queue at the main front entrance (orange wall) where your session attendance will be verified by a member of our team.  
  • Please read our new No Outdoor Footwear Policy below.
  • Access to the changing cubicles and lockers will be available and you will be directed to the zone in use at that time by an attendant. Main Pool users will use the red and green zone, Minor Pool users the blue zone.
  • Pre cleanse showers should be used before entering the pool, but showers are not to be used after your swim.
  • Only swimmers are allowed on pool side
  • Spectating - due to the regulations in place, spectators are not permitted in the pool halls at this time. Parents/guardians should wait in a cubicle or outside the building provided they are contactable at all times.
  • Hairdryers will not be available and must not be brought into the complex for use.
  • Leaving the Aqua Zone - to reduce the number of people at the entrance to the Aqua Zone you should leave the zone via the Minor Pool Fire Exit door. Please make your way to the blue changing area where directional signage will be in place to help you find your way out. An ‘Outdoor Footwear On’ area will be provided outside the exit.


No Outdoor Footwear Policy

To improve the hygiene of the Aqua Zone a No Outdoor Footwear policy is now in place.

Outdoor shoes must be taken off before entering the Aqua Zone. Seats are provided outside the entrance to the zone to sit on to take off your shoes. You may bring ‘clean’ footwear (flipflops, sliders or sandals) to use while in the changing area. Please ensure you bring all your belongings into the zone when ready.

When leaving the Aqua Zone please remember not to put your outdoor shoes on until outside the zone.
